Covenant College's New Chaplain
January 16, 2007
Matthew Bryant (Director of Church Relations) and our friend Niel Nielson (President) of Covenant College have just announced that the Rev. Aaron Messner has accepted its offer to become College Chaplain. Aaron will officially join Covenant on June 1, 2007.
Aaron goes to Covenant from Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia, where he has served as the associate minister of preaching. He received his B.A. and M.A. (both in theological studies) from Wheaton College and his M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he served as the content editor for the Princeton Theological Review.
Aaron underwent a lengthy candidating process, interviewing with the chaplain search committee, the chapel committee, senior administrators, selected faculty, Student Senate and other selected students, and members of the Board of Trustees.
Aaron and his wife, Nancy, have three children, ages 5, 3, and 1.
We at ref21 are delighted for Niel and Covenant College and for the faculty and student body. You are in for a treat. And we are thankful that Tenth Presbyterian continues to bless the larger church with choice servants of the Lord who have been effectively equipped in the context of her own vital ministry.
Phil's and Tenth's loss is Covenant College's (and the larger church's) gain.
