Semester starts again...
August 25, 2007
The seminary Fall semester has started again. Where did the summer go? And straight off the bat, I'm teaching Systematics 1, suggesting that Berkhoff is a must-purchase volume (better as a dictionary than a straight read and analysis), Hodge is, well, Hodge (Scottish Common Sense realism and all), apologizing for Shedd opening the door (wide!) to the wider hope for the unevangelised, that Bavinck (in the four volumes of his Dogmatics -- the much anticipated fourth volume emerges soon) is superb, and that Turretin and Calvin win hands down. And where is Trueman when I need him, having failed to place Dabney or Thornwell up there with the giants? I'm surrounded, the wagons circled. Help!
