Rodney exposed!
October 4, 2011
I received today what I think is called in Mafia circles `an offer I can't refuse': come clean about Rodney or face exposure. It is good to know where the priorities are these days.
To be honest, I had completely forgotten that the Ref21 sidebar did not actually give the identity of the bloggers. It did for many years -- something that my former Ref21 friend, Phil Ryken, insisted on -- but when it was rejigged, this was apparently omitted, as I discovered today. So yes, for those who missed that sidebar and were at the back of the line when irony was being doled out the incredible news is: Rodney is me.
Well, not really. To spell it out as clearly as I can: Rodney is actually an alter ego, a caricature whose job it is to expose the vacuous nature of much that passes for hip and cool in the Christian world. There is so much work there that I simply cannot manage it by myself. I need all the help I can get.
Does he always succeed? Doubtful. Who does? Does he care? Not at all. Is he a cowardly device? Hardly. He generally only comments on things that I comment on too. Strange that.
So there you have it. For any who were wondering. The dots have been connected. Though I always felt they were more of a straight line. A very straight line.
Oh, and I am also Paul Levy. He doesn't exist either. As to Derek Thomas: well, you will have to work that one out for yourselves.
I am also quite worried that I am about to be exposed as a Presbyterian as well. These are scary times for me and my family.
