Verses for the Church in America
January 19, 2010
A passage from this morning's devotions struck home as a verse for the American church, which today seems so prone to be fearful of various politicians and political movements, and of forces are conspiring against the church. The prophet Isaiah reminds us to fear God alone, and to be careful of following the crowd in its social anxieties: "Do not call conspiracy all that this people calls conspiracy, and do not fear what they fear, nor be in dread. But hte Lord of hosts, him you shall honor as holy. Let him be your fear, and let him be your dread" (Isa. 8:12-13).
