The Lord's Supper

 It is a pleasure to recommend this latest book on The Lord's Supper by my friend and colleague Dr Malcolm Maclean of Scalpay Free Church. What I like about it is not only the survey of the biblical, historical and theological basis of the Supper, but the emphasis on what it is that makes the Lord's Supper a means of grace - the action of Christ in it. As I say in my recommendation, 'The question of what Jesus is doing in the Lord's Supper rather than what we are doing challenges the subjectivism that drives much of our practice, and restores a much needed emphasis on the Supper as a means of grace'.
