The Death of Robert C. "Bob" Cannada, Sr. - July 5, 2007
July 6, 2007
After five long months of illness, the Lord has taken to himself his servant Bob Cannada. Bob is something of a legend in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), and in the State of Mississippi. He is one of the founding fathers of the PCA; founder and Managing Partner of Butler, Snow, O'Mara, Stevens and Cannada (one of the largest law firms in Mississippi); and founder, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Reformed Theological Seminary. And the list goes on.
Mr. Cannada was a longtime leader in the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, Mississippi. He became a member here, January 27, 1946; became a Deacon on January 26, 1947; signed the papers for the construction loan for our third meeting house (at 1390 North State Street, the immediate predecessor to our current building); became an Elder on May 27, 1962; served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years; was a prime mover in the purchase and development of the Twin Lakes Conference Center, and so much more.
A brief obituary, with funeral and memorial information, follows.
