R. Laird Harris (1911-2008)

The Covenant Seminary family was saddened by the news this past Friday that founding professor of Old Testament, R. Laird Harris, had gone to be with Jesus. Dr. Harris, who was recently honored by having the exegesis prize named for him, passed away just as our April board of trustees meeting began. He will be missed, not only by the Seminary family and all those to whom he ministered, but also by broader evangelicalism. A general editor of the New International Version of the Bible and co-author of The Theological Wordbook of the Old Testament, he also was a founding member of the Evangelical Theological Society in 1956.
