If you fancy listening to somebody....

Paul Levy
Brian Maiden, Brian who?!?

Brian is the minister of Parr Street Evangelical Chruch in Kendal, Cumbria. He trained at London Bible College in the 60s; the same era as people like Terry Virgo and Peter Lewis. He was a minister in Stockport but has been in Kendal for about 15 years.  You've probably never heard of him. Anyway, my reason for telling you to listen to him is, we've been on holiday to Kendal every year since we got married 12 years ago and were there just a couple of Sundays ago. It got me thinking. I've never heard Brian preach a bad sermon. He's consistently very, very good. There's a profound simplicity to his preaching. It's not flash by any means but it builds you up and strengthens you. It's never unprepared. He's built a solid congregation and had to deal with real tragedies in the life of the church. Brian doesn't soften the hard edges of the passage. He's planning to retire in September and is handing the work in Kendal on in good shape. It's madness he's retiring. He's got at least 5 very good years left in him. If he was a Paedo-Baptist I'd employ him.
