Dr. Getty, that is

In about an hour and some, it will be official. He will now be Dr. Keith Getty as he is receiving an honorary doctorate from my humble institution, Lancaster Bible College, at our commencement today at 2:00. This is one commencement speaker who will be sure to hold our interest.
Rumor has it that he will even be performing some songs, including a new song of his--first unveiled back a few weeks at The Gospel Coalition--with our college choir. This will be great. Anyone who can write a hymn like he can deserves the honor.
I have a hunch that this is but the first of such honorary degrees to be bestowed on Keith. He's still young and has a lot of hymns in him yet. But so glad we're the first (and with thanks to my colleague, Rob Bigley, for putting this in motion). I may not be able to beat Carl in a marathon, but at least edged him (and his institution) out here.
