An Important Word for us all, from the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy

It's not every day that one has the opportunity to laud the wisdom of the leader of France, but Nicholas Sarkozy has deliverd a gem. In the course of charting out his country's foreign policy, he's managed speak some strategic common sense that is vital for theologians, pastors, church planters, church growth experts, etc.
Says he, "I've always favored modest effectiveness over sterile grandiloquence."
This seems all the wiser in light of Sally Morganthaler's estimate of the most recent fad in alleged ecclesial engagement with the world in the 21st century (HT: Justin Taylor, Between Two Worlds): "For all the money, time, and effort we’ve spent on cultural relevance—and that includes culturally relevant worship—it seems we came through the last 15 years with a significant net loss in churchgoers, proliferation of megachurches and all."
Who'd have guessed a plug for the ordinary means of grace (over against whatever the latest reinvention of church and Christianity) coming from the Élysée Palace?!
