A Taxi Driver Breaks His Silence

Rodney Trotter
Well, it's surely been too long since Ref21 called on that most informed section of the thoughtful public, taxi drivers, for a critical take on current events.  In the wake of Carl Trueman's recent interview on Reformed Forum about his forthcoming book, Republocrat, we wanted to find out what your average cabbie thinks of Trueman. So, welcome, Martin Fry, gold-lame suited driver no 3300356, of ABC Cars.  Martin -- Carl Trueman: calm voice of political sanity who should run for office, or lunatic pinko extremist commie, corrupter of the nation's youth, and Socratic denier of the gods of the city, who should be shot on sight and buried at sea in an unmarked grave?

Goodness, Rodney, is that a question?   The man's clearly a menace to society.  I ain't never seen anything so subversive since I trashed my stereo while trying to listen to that evil backtracking on Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band and all that.  I mean, all that nonsense about thinking for yourself, not voting for the party your pastor recommends, finding out the voting records of candidates, and not getting all your news from the one channel.  That's not only subversive.  I tell you, Rodney, that's just how Nazi Germany started!  That's what my mate Dave says, anyway, and he should know -- his granny met Churchill!!  Worst still is that claim that Mott the Hoople did a better version of `All the Young Dudes' than David Bowyer [That's Davide Bowie, I think -- Derek T]. That's just sick, mate, sick. I mean, I know this Finnish geezer what works down the chippie, name of Nonbiaast-Foxi  Nyoosmediaa and, guess what'?  He speaks Finnish and all that!  And he told me that `Mott the Hoople' is an anagram of Ot Moot Phlet Eh' which, in Finnish, means `I am a lifelong member of the Communist Party!' i  Need I say more?  Frankly, as far as these people like Trueman who think the government might have role to play in the solution to some of society's problems -- well, what can I say??? The government should do summat about them.  It's the only solution, Rodney, I tell you, mate.  Shoot em on sight -- it's the only language they understand.  I mean, if I ad a quid for every commie who tried to leave my cab without payin,  giving me the excuse that I represent the unacceptable lackey face of capitalist exploitation in the final stage of the materialist dialectic, I'd be a......  [I think that's enough of that -- Derek T]
