The World Almost Righted
March 23, 2009
Well, Saturday saw some sanity return to the ranks of international rugby. The Calcutta Cup returns to its rightful owners; and the Irish slay the Red Dragon at the Millennium stadium. The theodicy question relative to the most glorious of sports seems somewhat less pressing today than it might have done this time last year.
It's not all good news, however. One disturbing development was a note I received from none other than the Moderator Elect of a certain well-known Celtic Presbyterian denomination, a man who seems singularly undiscerning. I quote: All that stuff on the ref21 blog about the Calcutta Cup is soirrelevant! The real action is at the Millennium Stadium today. NancyBoy Henson (is he the one with the soul patch? CRT) up against O'Driscoll. Is that a match? Clearly the theological and moral decline in the mainline British denominations is much further along than even I feared. And, DelBoy, the honour of your "nation"is at stake!
