Festschrift for Donald Macleod

Iain D Campbell

First off, I must apologise for my absence since last July, due to personal circumstances which are only now easing and allowing me back into my routine. Well done to the other contributors....you seem to have done well enough without me.

I have just been attending the closing ceremony of the current session of the Free Church College in Edinburgh. Tonight was something of a historic occasion, as we marked the formal retirement of Professor Donald Macleod, who has taught Systematic Theology at the College since 1978.

One of the pleasant aspects of the evening's proceedings was the opportunity to present a collection of writings in honour of Donald Macleod entitled The People's Theologian. Published by Christian Focus Publications, it has biographical information, as well as a collection of studies on historical theology, systematic theology and theology and the church, from writers in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. Edited by Dr Malcolm Maclean and myself, it is a tribute to one of our most gifted theologians in the Reformed tradition.

Donald is to teach theology as lecturer at the College for another year, even though he is officially retired. His writings are now available on the web at www.donaldmacleod.org.
